Overview
Lake Manyara National Park lies at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment and is famous for its lions that climb and rest in trees, behaviour that is still not fully understood.
Depending on water levels, the lake attracts flocks of flamingos, pelicans and cormorants. Together with the groundwater forest and open grassland, it makes for a varied day of game viewing in a compact park, easy to reach from Arusha.

ARUSHA TO LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
We collect you early from your Arusha hotel and drive to Lake Manyara National Park, which covers the north-western shore of the alkaline lake at the foot of the Rift Valley. It is famous for flamingos, pelicans and cormorants and hundreds of other bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. With luck you will also see elephants in the forest and the park's tree-climbing lions, once thought to be found only here. Baboons and vervet monkeys live among the trees, while giraffe browse the more open areas. In the late afternoon we drive you back to Arusha.
