Uganda

Uganda is home to about half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. Most treks start in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in the southwest of the country.

With a ranger team, you hike through thick forest to find a habituated gorilla family, then spend one precious hour watching them at close range. Uganda earned the name "Pearl of Africa" for the variety packed into a small country, from rainforest and savanna to the source of the Nile.
