Overview
Gombe Stream is Tanzania's smallest national park and one of the few in Africa explored only on foot, because there are no roads at all.
Its star attraction is a well-habituated community of about 100 to 150 chimpanzees, descendants of the group Jane Goodall began studying here in the 1960s. You may also see olive baboons, red colobus and blue monkeys along the forest trails.

Day by Day (5 days)
ARRIVAL IN KIGOMA
Around 4:50 pm you are met on arrival and transferred to Kigoma Hilltop Hotel. Dinner is at Sangara restaurant.

BOAT TO GOMBE STREAM
Breakfast at 7 am, then at 8:45 am you transfer to the lake for the boat to Gombe. On arrival you are taken to camp.

CHIMPANZEE TRACKING AND KAKOMBE WATERFALL
After breakfast at 7 am, you set off at 8 am to track the chimpanzees through the forest. If time allows, you can also climb to Kakombe Waterfall.

SECOND CHIMP TREK AND JANE'S PEAK
After breakfast at 7 am, you head into the forest again at 8 am to spend more time with the chimpanzees. If time allows, climb to Jane's Peak for views over Lake Tanganyika.

KIGOMA, UJIJI AND FLIGHT TO DAR ES SALAAM
After breakfast you take the 8:45 am boat back to Kigoma and transfer to Kigoma Hilltop Hotel for a hot lunch at noon. At 2 pm you set out on a sightseeing tour of Kigoma and historic Ujiji, then at 3:30 pm transfer to the airport for your Precision Air flight to Dar es Salaam.
