Day by Day (1 days)
SHIRA PLATEAU HIKE
We collect you from your hotel early for a day in the wilderness. The drive to West Kilimanjaro passes through a forest reserve where colobus monkeys can often be spotted. Your walk begins at about 3,500 m on the rugged Shira Plateau. Accompanied by a ranger, you follow trails with views of Kibo and its northern glaciers when the weather is clear, as well as the plains of Kenya's Amboseli National Park and the deep Simba River gorge. You pause at the northern rim of the Shira crater before heading back down.
