Overview
This four-day safari is a compact introduction to the migration and Tanzania's big cats, perfect if you are short on time but still want to experience the Serengeti in migration season. The route starts in Arusha, and we can also arrange a start from Mwanza or a fly-in.
With only four days, game drives focus on the early mornings and late afternoons when animals are most active. It is an efficient trip rather than a slow one, designed around a busy schedule. Contact us for route options.

Day by Day (4 days)
ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
You drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing. With its own permanent river, the park comes alive in the dry season, when birds gather along the Tarangire River and herds of giraffe, zebra, buffalo and above all elephants can be seen.
Overnight at Eileen's Trees Inn, all meals included.
OLDUVAI GORGE AND INTO THE SERENGETI
You head for the Serengeti, with the chance to stop at Olduvai Gorge, where Louis and Mary Leakey made some of the world's most important discoveries about early humans in the 1950s, before an afternoon game drive on the plains.
Overnight at Serengeti Baobab Tented Camp, all meals included.
FULL DAY IN THE SERENGETI
An early start gives you a full day in the park. Your guide chooses the best areas for the season: the hippo pool, a lion pride at rest or the middle of the migrating herds. You also visit the kopjes, rocky outcrops that shelter predators and offer wide views over the plains. Look for elephant, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and lion, and with luck leopard and cheetah.
Overnight at Serengeti Baobab Tented Camp, all meals included.
NGORONGORO CRATER AND BACK TO ARUSHA
Staying close to the crater means you are among the first vehicles down in the morning. Ngorongoro is a Conservation Area where the Maasai graze their cattle alongside wildlife, and on the way down you catch a glimpse of their way of life. The crater walls form a natural sanctuary for lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and sometimes leopard; giraffe are absent because the slopes are too steep for them. In the afternoon you leave the crater and drive back to Arusha.
Overnight at Masailand Safari Lodge with dinner and breakfast included.
