Overview
Nyerere National Park, once part of the Selous Game Reserve, is one of the biggest protected wild areas in Africa. This three-day trip from Dar es Salaam gives you a boat safari on the Rufiji River, a full day of game drives and an early walk or drive before heading back.
The price depends on the size of your group, the number of days and the standard of lodge you choose, and we will send a quote once we know your plans. You can pay by bank transfer, online or in cash when you arrive.

Day by Day (3 days)
DAR ES SALAAM TO NYERERE AND RUFIJI RIVER BOAT TRIP
You leave Dar es Salaam early with Abakombe Tours and drive to Nyerere National Park, arriving around midday. After lunch you head out on a boat trip along the Rufiji River, where crocodiles and hippos gather and other animals come down to drink. If you are lucky you may see crocodiles hunting at the water's edge.
Overnight at Selous Great Water Lodge, all meals included.
FULL DAY OF GAME DRIVES IN NYERERE
After breakfast you spend the whole day on game drives looking for elephant, zebra, gazelle, impala and the rare African wild dog. The area was named after the explorer Frederick Selous and is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Roughly the size of Switzerland, it is a vast wilderness of grassy savannah, open woodland and rocky hills shaped by the Rufiji River. Boat trips and walking safaris are also offered here.

MORNING ACTIVITY AND RETURN TO DAR ES SALAAM
Start with an early game drive or a guided nature walk, then after breakfast drive back to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the afternoon. If you prefer to fly, we transfer you to the airstrip for your flight to Dar es Salaam.
