Overview
This 13-day itinerary follows the Great Migration across both sides of its ecosystem — Kenya's Maasai Mara and Tanzania's Serengeti — rather than committing to just one country and hoping the herds happen to be nearby.
Since the Mara and the Serengeti are one continuous ecosystem split by an international border, this itinerary gives you a genuinely more complete picture of the migration than either country alone. Game viewing is strong year-round across both parks, though timing your trip around the migration's current position meaningfully affects which side offers the better sightings during your specific travel dates.
Crossing between the two countries typically involves separate visas and a border crossing, which we factor into the itinerary's pacing rather than treating as an afterthought.
