Ruaha National Park

Ruaha National Park is one of Tanzania's largest parks and one of its wildest. It is known for big elephant herds and some of the country's largest lion prides, and it sees only a fraction of the vehicles found in the Serengeti or Ngorongoro.

Ruaha lies where the wildlife of East and southern Africa meet, so you can see both greater and lesser kudu alongside familiar plains animals. Baobab-covered hills and the Great Ruaha River give it a look quite unlike the open northern grasslands.

Visit from June to October, when the dry season draws animals to the river. Ruaha is a short flight away and combines naturally with Nyerere for a complete southern safari.
