Ask five operators for a price and you will get five answers, because a Tanzania safari can mean a simple camping trip for around $2,000 or a luxury fly-in circuit for $15,000 or more. Most mid-range safaris with a private vehicle and guide cost roughly $3,500 to $6,000 per person for seven to ten days, which is about the range you will find across our tours.

What Changes the Price

Four things matter most: how many people share the vehicle, which parks you visit, the accommodation level and the season. A private safari for two costs more per person than the same route shared by six. The northern parks, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Lake Manyara, are usually cheaper per day than remote southern parks like Ruaha or Nyerere, simply because they are easier to reach. The busy migration months, roughly July to October, also push lodge rates up.

What's Normally Included

On our trips, the price covers your vehicle and driver-guide, park fees, accommodation and most meals on safari, the same structure used by most reputable operators. Extras usually include international flights, visas, tips and optional add-ons such as a hot air balloon flight or a few days on Zanzibar.

Beware of Very Cheap Quotes

If a safari costs far less than $200 a day, check carefully what is left out. Common shortcuts include old vehicles without pop-up roofs, bigger groups than promised, park fees charged on arrival or last-minute changes of lodge. Ask every operator for a full day-by-day breakdown before you compare.
