The natural formations at the Chemka/Kikuletwa/Maji Moto hot springs are quite phenomenal making it similar to a natural and large jacuzzi made of fresh, never stagnant, and warm water, sipping through the surface of the earth floor.
This oasis is located almost midway, between Arusha and Moshi making it one of the best activities to do near Arusha and Moshi, other than safaris and Mount Kilimanjaro treks.
Even more fascinating is the journey you make from Moshi or Arusha to the hot springs. You will traverse a variety of vegetation that includes a sugar cane plantation, a blanket of red flowers, and amazing views of the two highest mountains in Tanzania, Mount Meru in Arusha and Mount Kilimanjaro in Moshi.
KIKULETWA HOT SPRINGS ITINERARY
The journey to the Chemka or Maji Moto hot springs at Kikuletwa will begin at around 10 am when we pick you up from your accommodation. The journey to Kikuletwa Hotsprings will take a duration of approximately 1 hour 30 minutes through a well-laid tarmac road before branching off to a dirt, murram road that leads to the hot springs of Kikuletwa/Chemka/Maji Moto through dry riverbeds, dotted with a mixture of acacia and baobab trees with the road meandering through tiny villages, some old broken railways and Maasai boys herding their family livestock. amidst palm and fig trees.
Camping at the hot springs is optional as the place surrounding the hot springs is a public campsite and a great place to have drinks, socialize and grill some chicken overnight with music blasting off portable speakers.
