Arusha and AFCON 2027: Catch a Match, Then Head Into the Serengeti

Of Tanzania's three AFCON 2027 host cities, Arusha is the one safari lovers are most excited about, because it is already where every northern safari begins. It is the closest city to the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Manyara, and it now has a brand-new stadium as well.

From Arusha:

• Arusha National Park is less than an hour away, close enough for a morning game drive on match day.
• Tarangire, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater are a few hours' drive, and the Serengeti is a full day's drive or a short flight, so a few extra nights before or after your match works well.
• Kilimanjaro's gates are a similar distance the other way, if you are tempted by a short climb.

A simple way to plan it

Most fans won't have a whole month, so the best trips are built around the matches you already have tickets for. For example, fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport a day or two before your game, spend those days on a short Tarangire or Ngorongoro safari, come back to Arusha for the match, then fly home or carry on into the Serengeti if you have time.
