AFCON 2027 Host Cities in Tanzania: Dar es Salaam, Arusha and Zanzibar Compared

Tanzania's three AFCON 2027 host cities are very different, and that matters if you plan to spend a week or two around your matches. Here is a quick comparison.

Dar es Salaam: Benjamin Mkapa Stadium

Tanzania's biggest city and main air gateway, with the largest stadium and the most hotels. It is a busy port city rather than a holiday town. It works well if you are staying put, and it is also the easiest place to fly on to Zanzibar or Arusha.

Arusha: the safari city

Arusha is the natural choice if you want a safari too. It sits on the doorstep of the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and Kilimanjaro, and organizing safaris is what the town does every day. It is smaller and calmer than Dar es Salaam, with a smaller stadium.

Zanzibar: the island option

Beaches, Stone Town and a slower pace. With its venues on the same island, travel between matches is short if your games are all here.

If you want more than a stadium and a hotel, Arusha or Zanzibar will give you much more to do around your games. Choose Arusha for wildlife and Zanzibar for the beach, or combine both with a short domestic flight.
