Abakombe Tours acknowledges that people are individuals and understands that individuals have different preferences. In fact, that is what inspired the name. Abakombe is a local native Haya word “considerable team”. Abakombe can design luxury safaris to budget safaris; our pricing base on costs not pre-determined set rates.
At Abakombe Tours, we will do our best to provide you with a unique and tailor-made Safari or Trek that every individual can enjoy. You are to be treated as an individual and friend. Our guides speak English and strive to provide you with an unforgettable experience.
Abakombe is a unique safari company in several ways.
First, it is among the 50% of safari companies that is locally and operated by a Tanzanian. Alphonce Kishoke, the founder and owner designed the business from the knowledge he gained both through his formal training and his years of work as an independent driver. He has taken his life lessons and applied them to the policies of the company. For example, he pays his driver a wage; the majority of companies expect their drivers to live only on their tips. He hopes to build even more company loyalty by offering them a chance to become investors and part owners of the company. All of this means increased loyalty to the customer, their comfort, safety and satisfaction.
Abakombe also supports University field researchers, professional photographers and companies involved in pre-business development activities.
Abakombe Toursis the first true social business safari company in Tanzania. Abakombe uses the Grameen Social Business model which was extended by Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Peace Prize winner for his work with Micro-credit loans and the development of Social Businesses. This means that all profits each year are donated directly support a Tanzanian Non-Governmental Organization, Abakombe Charity Challenge (ACC); a program serving children with disabilities in Moshi. No one associated with the company; even investors, receive no dividends, bonuses or incentives.
Abakombe charity of choice provides community-based programs for children with intellectual disabilities and their families. ACC designs individualized services and supports for children with intellectual disabilities through community centers and in-home supports. ACC also provides assistance to parents or caregivers of children with disabilities by offering micro-credit loans and participation in social businesses help them gain employment and help lift themselves out of poverty.
Alphonce was fearful with the ACC program and though he has no connection or children in the program he decided to adopt this foundation.
